About LCARC
The Lewis-Clark Amateur Radio Club is located in the beautiful Lewis-Clark Valley, the gateway to Hells Canyon, spanning the borders of Idaho and Washington. Our club is generally comprised of residents of Lewiston, Idaho, Clarkston, Washington, and the surrounding area. The valley offers many outdoor opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
Lewiston and Clarkston border the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers. Surrounding the valley are lush farmed rolling hills, many historic landmarks, scenic opportunities unique to the northwest, and lots of friendly folks that just enjoy the great outdoors.
The valley offers many outdoor opportunities for residents and visitors alike. One of the primary industies and tourist attractions is the vast jetboat manufacturing and jetboat river tours through Hells Canyon, a popular destination for those visiting the northwest. In additon to jetboating, the Lewis-Clark Valley is prime real estate for hunting, fishing, whitewater rafting, sailing, swimming, camping, and hiking.
The Lewis-Clark Amateur Radio Club is active in community interest programs and community emergency communication services. We have an active involvement in community relations and provide a vital link in emergency communications in the valley through the ARES sector of our club. We encourage membership from all areas and look forward to promoting Amateur Radio.

I just got back from Boise, ID and the VOI picnic/swap meet. It is interesting to do a club visit, and I do them whenever I am visiting an area and can find a club to attend. I would encourage all to do this when you are able. These visits can give us ideas to bring to our own club and share what works and what doesn't to make a club an enjoyable experience for the members.
I think there have been many good changes to the LCARC in the last year as we have become a more active club in the way of activities other than our regular monthly meetings. The fox hunts are a fun example of this. Each hunt brings new experiences and great stories from those who participate. I know I look forward to the next hunt. It is always fun too, to explain a fox hunt to non hams. When I told a friend I was going fox hunting, he thought I was going after the 4 legged variety and he wanted to go. I explained it was a transmitter hunt and he got even more interested. He was busy that day, but wants to attend our next fox hunt. This could be a great way to introduce others to amateur radio.
Don't be afraid to invite friends to a meeting or event. If you are enjoying it, chances are they will too. Remember also, there are no rules what activities a club should be having. If you have an idea, share it. Maybe its something we will all enjoy.
